Acura vs. Lexus

There's certainly no shortage of options when you're looking to buy a new car in the Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, and Aliso Viejo area. But before you can decide which one is right for you, you have to narrow down which manufacturer has the features and specifications you want.

In this Acura comparison vs. Lexus, our team at Norm Reeves Acura of Mission Viejo takes a closer look at the history, lineup, and innovation that makes each of these luxury manufacturers unique.

An Introduction to Acura

Acura came to the United States in 1986 as the first Japanese luxury vehicle. With principles based firmly in a global viewpoint, Acura was determined to bring customers a quality vehicle at a reasonable price. The brand's flagship model, the Acura Legend, is believed to have inspired other manufacturers to follow suit.

Acura as a brand has narrowed its focus in order to perfect each vehicle in its lineup. With three sedans and two SUVs, you won't have to spend days comparing models to figure out which one has all the features you like.

The Acura ILX, TLX, and RLX all seat up to five passengers comfortably, with available horsepower ranging from 201 in the ILX all the way up to 310 in the RLX.

The RDX and MDX models offer a more spacious luxury SUV, with available all-wheel drive and a six- or nine-speed transmission. The entire Acura family of automobiles has several innovative technologies under its hood, including an Active Damper system, refined all-wheel drive, active sound control, and GPS-linked temperature control.

A Look at Lexus

After many years of development, the Lexus LS 400 reached the US in 1989. As a luxury brand, Lexus set out to manufacture comfortable and stylish automobiles for drivers around the world. When we look at the Lexus lineup of vehicles, we find four sedans, two coupes, four SUVs, six hybrids, two F Performance vehicles, and five future concept models.

The Lexus sedans have roomier interiors than their line of sporty coupes, but the SUV models have improved off-road capabilities and additional cargo room. The F Performance vehicles are among the more sporty models under the Lexus brand, with horsepower topping off at around 550.

In terms of technology, Lexus offers a Remote Touch system that can be used to navigate through the menus on the display screen. The Remote Touch system works similar to a computer mouse track pad.
