Active Acura TLX Safety Features

The 2018 Acura TLX comes standard with many active safety features to help prevent an accident from occurring. These include:

  • 4-wheel anti-lock braking system
  • Electronic Brake Distribution
  • Brake Assist

There's also Hill Start Assist. This system will hold brake pressure, giving you extra time to move your foot from the brake to the gas pedal. This is so the car won't roll backwards when on an incline.

Another active safety feature is the standard Multi-View Rear Camera with dynamic guidelines. Choose between Normal, Wide Angle, or Top-Down view to help see your surroundings when in reverse or parallel parking. Plus, the guidelines will help guide your route and judge distances.

Passive Safety Features

If you got into an accident, you can rest assured that the TLX will help keep you safe. That's because it's made with a next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. ACE™ has many connected structural elements that distribute frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the car.

Plus, outer and front-corner braces will help absorb and distribute impact energy throughout other parts of the vehicle, along with other cars involved in the crash. As a result, ACE™ can help everyone that was in the accident stay safe.

Other passive safety features include dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags; side curtain airbags; and a driver's knee airbag.

Driver-Assisting Technologies

Along with active and passive safety features, the 2018 TLX offers lots of driver-assisting technologies. These are to alert you to things you might miss while driving.

One such feature is the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™). It uses a radar transmitter and a forward-facing camera to determine if you're getting too close to another vehicle. If you don't react in time, CMBS™ can apply the brakes for you.

An additional driver-assisting technology is the Blind Spot Information (BSI) System. If a vehicle is in your blind spot, an icon by the appropriate side mirror will light up. If a car is in your blind spot when you have your turn signal on, the light will flash, and a warning beep will sound.
