In our review of the 2017 Acura TLX safety features, we'll be showing you a variety of different systems that come with this vehicle. We'll look at active safety features, passive safety features, and optional driver-assisting technology. By reading this review, you'll be able to decide if this vehicle has enough safety features in place to keep you and your passengers protected.

2017 Acura TLX Active Safety Features

The Acura TLX is outfitted with a four-wheel, anti-lock braking system that comes packed with a variety of features designed to keep you in control of the vehicle at all times. The Vehicle Stability Assist® uses brake pressure to help keep the vehicle stable while navigating slippery roads. The Brake Assist feature helps you come to a complete stop more quickly during an emergency situation.

This sedan also features some safety technology to add a little security to your driving. The multi-view rear camera provides you with a view of your vehicle's rear so you can back up with more ease and precision. You can even toggle the views to see different angles. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System will notify you when one or more of your tires are underinflated and require air.

Acura TLX Passive Safety Features

The Acura TLX was designed to protect its passengers with the Next-Generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. This structure is equipped with outer braces and structural elements to help distribute crash energy away from the passengers. While the ACE™ body structure protects from the outside, it's the advanced airbag system that protects the passengers on the inside.

The Acura TLX features: dual-stage, multiple-threshold, front airbags; side curtain airbags; and a driver's knee airbag. The front airbags utilize sensors to determine how much to inflate the airbags to help correspond to the severity of impact. These airbags also feature occupant sensors, which will prevent them from deploying to empty seats.

Optional Driver Assisting Technology

Acura TLX DashboardThe Acura TLX also offers some exciting and sophisticated features that are included with the Advance Package. The Collision Mitigation Braking System™ utilizes front sensors to detect the distance from the object ahead. It will provide brake pressure if it senses that a crash is imminent, but coming to a complete stop requires driver intervention. The Lane-Keeping Assist and the Road Departure Mitigation System are designed to inform you if you're straying from your path.

Another helpful feature, available with the Advance Package, is the Adaptive Cruise Control. This feature lets you set a distance, as well as speed, from the vehicle ahead of you. It will maintain that safe distance even if the driver ahead is braking. The Blind Spot Information System will notify you when there's a vehicle in your blind spot while you're trying to change lanes.
