One of the major components to effectively deciding on your next sedan is the vehicle's safety. You want to be sure that the vehicle you choose to get around the Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, and Aliso Viejo area will help keep you protected. The 2017 Acura ILX is a sought-after vehicle due to its style and performance, but today, we'll be looking at the safety features of this impressive sedan.

2017 Acura ILXIn this safety overview, we'll be taking a closer look at the passive safety features, the active safety features, and the optional driver-assisting technology. By learning about this vehicle and its safety features, you'll be able to decide if it has enough protection to keep you safe during your trips.

2017 Acura ILX Passive Safety Features

The Acura ILX was designed to protect its passengers during a collision. The Next-Generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ body structure is fitted with reinforced outer braces and crash energy management. During a collision, this body structure will disperse the force of collision away from the passengers.

This vehicle also features an advanced airbag system with occupant sensors. These airbags will adjust their inflation pressure to correspond with the severity of impact. The occupant sensors prevent these airbags from deploying to empty seats. This system features dual-stage multiple-threshold front airbags, side curtain airbags, and front side-airbags.

Acura ILX Active Safety Features

The four-wheel, anti-lock braking system that's featured with Acura ILX offers a variety of different systems to help you avoid a collision. The Electronic Brake Distribution varies the amount of brake pressure applied to each wheel while the Brake Assist system gives you extra assistance by helping you come to a complete stop.

The Acura ILX feature Vehicle Stability Assist™. This system will detect wheel slip when driving on slippery roads. It will provide the necessary brake pressure to the affected wheels while sending more torque to the wheels with the most traction to keep your vehicle on its intended path.

Optional Driver Assisting Technology

Acura ILX DashboardIf you choose to upgrade to one of the packages, AcuraWatch, Premium, or Technology, you'll see some driver assisting features available. The Adaptive Cruise Control is a system that will add ease and convenience to your highway commutes. You can set a safe distance and speed, and this system will maintain that distance from the vehicle ahead even if it slows down. The Collision Mitigation Braking System™ uses front-mounted sensors to detect if a crash is imminent. It will provide enough brake pressure to give you time to act and come to a complete stop.

The Premium and Technology packages include the Blind Sport Information System. This system will send a visual and audible warning if you've activated your turn signal to change lanes while there's a vehicle in your blind spot. The Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, working with the Rearview Camera, uses sensors to detect if an object is approaching your vehicle's rear while you're backing up.
