2015 Acura MDX Review

Some families simply refuse to go the minivan route, but they still need a vehicle that can reliably haul everyone around town. These are exactly the types of car buyers that Acura had in mind when they launched the MDX, and whom they continue to cater to. With three rows of seating, dozens of creature comforts, and a sport-wagon look, the 2015 Acura MDX is ideally suited to its target demographic. If you are in the market for a family crossover SUV, check out the Acura MDX, arriving soon to the lot at Norm Reeves Acura.

In 2015 the MDX sports a more refined look with a bit more curve to the sheet metal and some adjustments up front that give it a much sleeker appearance. The interior is also more coordinated than previous editions, and the jewel-eye headlamps up front complete the redesign.

2015 Acura MDX Features

The 2015 Acura MDX comes as a base model with Tech, Tech Entertainment, and Advance Entertainment packages available, with all choices coming in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Standard features on the base model of the MDX include an eight-speaker sound system, multi-angle rearview camera, keyless entry, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, SMS and email integration, a five-inch color display, USB and iPod integration, and automatic climate control.

The various available packages for the MDX offer the following options:

  • HID headlights
  • Power tailgate
  • GPS-linked climate control
  • Voice command recognition
  • Navigation system with real-time traffic and weather
  • 10-speaker premium audio system
  • Rear seat entertainment system
  • Engine block heater
  • Backup sensors
  • Wooden steering wheel and shift knob accents

2015 Acura MDX Specs

The 2015 Acura MDX comes with one option under the hood, a 3.5L V6 that produces 290 horsepower. Also present on all MDXs is a six-speed automatic transmission, available with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Acura also refreshed or redesigned many of the SUV's underpinnings as well. The trailing-arm rear suspension from previous years has been scrapped in favor of a coil-over-damper multi-link one. New amplitude-reactive dampers quiet rough pavement, and the drivetrain has been lowered to better accommodate overall handling.

Acura MDX Interior

Everything fits together very nicely inside the MDX, with more of a nod to Acura sedans as far as design. The interior is very roomy for a three-row smaller SUV, with four inches tacked on to the wheelbase for 2015 paying dividends. Active noise cancelation and an improved active engine mount system keep road noise to a minimum. Acoustic glass up front and in the rear and noise-insulating glass also contribute to a quiet cabin.

The second row seats slide forward and back up to six inches, providing plenty of room for passengers in the backseat. There is also lots of storage, giving owners plenty of places to put their cargo.

Review the 2015 Acura MDX in Person

The new design of the 2015 Acura MDX directly addresses many of the small complaints that owners had with previous iterations of the vehicle, making this a great option for families looking for a three-row SUV. The interior space is absolutely vast, and the safety ratings for the MDX have been nothing short of outstanding.
