Drivers in the Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, and Lake Forest area have been waiting with baited breath for the 2017 Acura MDX. To better acquaint you with this impressive and sophisticated SUV, we're going to show you the new and exciting features. You'll learn how this luxury vehicle compares to last year's model and how it differs. By reading this article, you'll be a 2017 Acura MDX professional and if it's the right vehicle for you.

Acura MDX: Engine Performance and Efficiency

Both the 2016 and 2017 Acura MDX feature a 3.5-liter V6 direct injection engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission with Sequential Sport Paddle Shifters. This engine can get both models to reach 290 horsepower with 267 lb-ft of torque.

Thanks to the direct injection, which actively measures how much fuel the engine actually needs so none is wasted, the 2016 Acura MDX gets an EPA estimated 19/27 city/highway mpg. The 2017 Acura MDX with idle stop sees a slight increase in city miles with 20/27 city/highway mpg.*

Interior Comfort and Technology

The 2016 and 2017 Acura MDX both feature leather seats for you and your six passengers. In terms of passenger volume, the 2016 MDX offers 132.3 cubic feet of space. The 2017 MDX offers slightly more volume than last year's model with 132.7 cubic feet.

This may not be noticeable, but third row passengers will appreciate the slight increase in legroom, to 28.1 inches, in the 2017 version as opposed to the 27.4 inches in the 2016 model. Not much has changed with the infotainment system since last year. Each vehicle offers the reliable 7-inch

On Demand Multi-Use Display™ that allows you to select your preferred media, whether that's the radio, CD player, or SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. The satellite radio is offered as a three-month trial and delivers more than 165 different channels of commercial-free a

udio entertainment.

Active Safety Technology

The 2017 Acura MDX offers a variety of driver-assisting technology features. Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow is helpful during long commutes. This feature, like regular cruise control, allows you to set a speed and continue without pressing on the gas. The difference is that it maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of yours when you select your desired distance.

The 2017 Acura MDX also features the Collision Mitigation Braking System that uses front sensors to determine if an impact is inevitable. It will send a warning chime, and if no action is taken, it can apply 80% brake pressure to avoid or reduce the impact. These features come standard in the 2017 Acura MDX, but they're optional upgrades in the 2016 model.
