2017 Acura RLX Dashboard Light Guide

When you're tackling the roads in the Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, and Aliso Viejo areas in the 2017 Acura RLX, you never expect something to go wrong. However, if there's an issue with your vehicle and its components, you'll be notified via a light on your dashboard. But, given the amount of malfunction and condition indicator lights that can appear, keeping track of them isn't always the easiest.

Our team at Norm Reeves Acura of Mission Viejo is here to help explain these lights. In this 2017 Acura RLX dashboard light guide, we'll show you the difference between condition and malfunction indicators. We'll also show you the meanings of these lights, and what you should do when they appear during your journey.

Condition Indicators vs Malfunction Indicators

You may notice that there are different sets of lights that can show up on your dashboard that have wildly different meanings. Condition indicators come on when there's an action you need to perform for the vehicle to continue with efficient performance. Malfunction indicators come on when there's a system or component that isn't working properly. Some of these lights indicate a severe issue that should be taken care of right away.

2017 Acura RLX Condition Indicators

  • Electric Parking Brake: If you see this light appear as you first start your Acura RLX, it means that the parking brake is still engaged. The light is reminding you so you can disengage it before you begin to drive.
  • Seat Belt Reminder: This light will come on if you haven't yet buckled your seat belt. You'll also hear a beeping sound that'll continue until you connect the seat belt.
  • Low Fuel: When this condition indicator comes on, you should try to refuel as soon as possible. You can still drive, but this light lets you know that your tank is near empty, and that you should take precautions before you run out of fuel.
  • Low Tire Pressure: If this condition indicator comes on while you're out on the road, you should pull over to safety and check your tire pressure

2017 Acura RLX Malfunction Indicators

  • Brake System: When you see this light appear, you should pull over as soon as possible. The light means that either you're low on brake fluid, or your braking system isn't functioning properly. If the brake fluid is at the appropriate level and the light stays on, contact your Acura dealer.
  • Low Oil Pressure: You should immediately pull over to safety and check your oil level. If necessary, add engine oil. However, if the light appears, and the oil level is fine, you should contact your Acura dealer immediately.
  • Charging System: If your battery isn't charging, this light will come on. If you're driving when this light appears, you should shut off your electrical components to get the most out of your battery power. Contact your Acura dealer right away to correct the system.
  • Electric Power Steering: When this light comes on, you should pull over to safety and restart your engine. If the light stays on, contact your Acura dealer and don't continue your journey, because maneuvering your vehicle could be very difficult.
