Safety Features in the 2016 Acura RDX

At Norm Reeves Acura of Mission Viejo, we're excited about the safety features in the 2016 Acura RDX. Frankly, we get excited about anything that can help keep our Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, and Lake Forest customers safer when they're behind the wheel.

To help you learn more about these advanced features, we'll go over some of our favorites below. From Adaptive Cruise Control to an innovative body structure design and a protective set of warning systems, the 2016 Acura RDX is a helping to make the road a safer place, one car at a time.

2016 Acura RDX Standard Safety Features

Starting the list of standard safety features in the RDX is the six-airbag system. The two front airbags, two front side airbags, and two side-curtain airbags provide optimized protection to all front and outboard rear seat passengers. Each of the five seats has been equipped with a three-point seatbelt and accompanying head restraints.

For smaller passengers, LATCH anchors and upper-tether anchors have been installed in the rear seat so you can easily strap in a LATCH-compatible car seat. In addition, all of the windows and even the moonroof have an auto-reverse feature, which prevents them from closing when an obstacle is detected.

The body of the RDX has been designed using next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering. This helps the RDX to evenly distribute crash force energy around the cabin and away from you and your passengers.

To help you avoid accidents in the first place, the 2016 RDX comes standard with Vehicle Stability Assist, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and a set of sophisticated braking systems.

Optional Safety Features

The Adaptive Cruise Control takes traditional cruise control to a new level by allowing you to select your cruising speed and your desired distance from the vehicle ahead of you. Using throttle management and subtle braking when needed, the RDX can maintain a safe following distance without having to disengage the cruise control.

At the same time, Lane Keeping Assist in conjunction with Lane Departure Warning can monitor road markings to determine driving lanes. Should you begin to leave the lane without signaling, the system can apply a gentle tug of the steering wheel to keep you on the correct path.

While these systems help you keep an eye on what's ahead of you, the available Blind Spot Information System looks out for hazards behind you. Specifically, when a vehicle enters into the RDX's blind spot, the system will alert the driver.
